Summer Employment Opportunity: Project Assistant with the Cape Breton Local Immigration Partnership (CBLIP)
Make a positive impact in your community this summer! The Cape Breton Local Immigration Partnership (CBLIP) is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Project Assistant, this position will support the CBLIP's island-wide work in fostering welcoming communities for newcomers.
As our Project Assistant, you will:
- Enhance Newcomer Resources: Review and update the CBLIP Newcomer Service Map.
- Build Member Resource Base: Expand and organize a library of resources for newcomer-serving organizations.
- Support Key Meetings: Provide administrative assistance for CBLIP Council, Immigrant Advisory Table, and Working Group meetings.
- Assist with Initiatives: Collaborate with CBLIP staff to coordinate and promote a variety of projects and initiatives.
- Contribute to Cape Breton Partnership Goals: Support other Partnership activities as needed.
Must-have Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong English communication skills (both written and spoken).
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities effectively.
- Solid analytical abilities, attention to detail, and research skills.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment.
- A positive team attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
- The capacity to work well both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Nice-to-have Skills and Qualifications:
- Administrative experience.
- Experience with digital tools like Canva, WordPress, Basecamp, Acrobat, Zoom.
Working Conditions:
- Wage: $16 per hour.
- Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Location: Primarily remote within Cape Breton Island, with potential for a mix of office and remote work depending on your location.
- Physical Demands: Frequent sitting or standing while using a computer is required.
- Equipment Provided: Laptop will be provided.
- Eligibility: This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents between 15 and 30 years of age.
